Once they arrived at the designated wedding spot, Cody made some quick introductions to those who were around—Frankie, Sunni, and Eli. He left Lexi in the shade of a tree talking with Sunni. As the best man, he had obligations to fulfill, but at the reception, other than the toast, he’d be a free man. Free to spend time with the woman he loved.

When he and Brady drove up on the golf cart after pictures had finished, he spotted her immediately. His gut curled at the sight of her. She was beautiful with her hair pulled up, leaving her long ivory neck exposed.

As he approached, their gazes locked. She smiled.

“Hey.” He kissed her cheek. “Have you been okay?”

“Fine. You look good in that penguin suit.”

He spun around so she could get the full effect. Lexi laughed. “May I seat you, mademoiselle?” He held his arm out, and she linked hers through. Frankie and Eli had already begun seating the early arrivers.

He led her down a grassy knoll. White chairs had been lined up facing a small lake. The weather was perfect, and the setting couldn’t have been prettier, green grass in every direction with flowers and trees to accentuate the beauty. An occasional jogger ran past on a nearby path. He guided Lexi all the way to the second row on the groom’s side. Sunni, Frankie’s wife, was already seated there, and she scooted over one chair.

“I’ll see you after.” He placed another light kiss on her cheek.

Each time Cody ushered someone to a seat, his gaze was drawn to Lexi. She was, by far, the most beautiful woman at the wedding, and she was there with him!

Finally it was time for the ceremony to begin. Brady took his place next to the minister. The music changed. Frankie walked their grandmother down the aisle. Now it was Cody’s turn to walk their mom down the aisle. Then Eli led Kendall’s mom to her place in the front row.

Cody took his place at Brady’s side. Frankie and Eli sat in the front row next to his parents.

Cody’s eyes rested on Lexi. She smiled. In his heart grew tender shoots of love. She was it. He didn’t know the whens or hows, but he knew—she was the one. Reflected in her expression was the same wonder he experienced.
